Blood Moon

October 2014

A Cloudy Night

On the evening of October 8th 2014, we were set to have one of the finest views of the Total Lunar Eclipse. I've seen an awesome one a few years ago. However, this time it felt more exciting than it was back then. I hadn't realised why until the evening unfolded...

Being busy in the kitchen, I had sent my husband out three times to see if the eclipse had begun. He did so, only to return each time to say he could see nothing but clouds. It seems that heavy clouds had set in above the area where we live.

"Typical!", I thought.

My husband gave up trying to see it, he pointed out that there was not a single breeze of wind outside, so the clouds were there to stay.

Let Faith Arise

As I continued my work in the kitchen, my faith started to rise. I prayed to the Lord to let me see it - after all He is the maker of the Universe and is control of the weather. This would normally have been a selfish request, but I pleaded with God saying that I wanted to see the Lunar Eclipse (the blood moon) to serve as a reminder of His second coming. And I really meant it with all my heart.

Joel 2:30-31

30 I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 31 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

Realising every minute counts, and my husband no longer willing to go out to check, I left my work and made my way outside. It was all cloudy, nothing to be seen anywhere, not a hint of any star, never mind the moon. I sighed up to heaven, asking God once more that I dearly would love to see the moon turning red, like blood. Scientists, Astrologers, and non-believers may see it for what it is, but I would see it differently to them because I believe it is a shadow of what is to come - the second coming of the Lord Jesus. I went back inside the house to continue with my work, and continued to pray in my heart.

God's Response

When I finished, I went outside again, half expecting more thick clouds to be still there - and they were! But then suddenly to my big surprise, the moon started to come through the clouds right before my eyes. I shouted for joy. God has heard my prayers, and He has granted my request! I called my husband out, who quickly setup his telescope and camera to capture the moment.

As I stood there watching the moon, praising God like crazy with big smiles and heart pounding with awe and love, I saw a shooting star flew below the moon. It took me by surprise, and I had the most inexplicable moment with God! Suddenly, I felt like I should be making a wish (even though this is a man-made thing) and I also felt that I do not have to keep that wish a secret - that God wanted me to tell it. And so I said out loud,

"I wish for every single member of my family and my husband's family to be baptised in the Holy Spirit!".

Not everyone in our families believe in God or in the Lord Jesus, and not all who believe have ever been baptised in the Holy Spirit.

The clouds stayed away for around an hour, enough for us to see the whole total eclipse. I cherished every moment, just as I had promised God. I believe every lunar eclipse is given to us to serve as a reminder of His second coming. And one day we will see the last eclipse, and then the end will come....

Amen. Come Lord Jesus!
