Healing in a Restaurant

Prompting of The Holy Spirit

Please read Healings on the Street before reading this story.

After an unfruitful day, trying to find sick/injured people on the street for whom he could pray, Rob came back disappointed. So, I prayed to God for a chance to find someone who has pain, who Rob could pray for.

That very evening, God answered my prayer.

We went to an Italian restaurant to have our evening meal. We were served by a very friendly waitress. My heart started to miss a beat when I saw her, and I felt the Holy Spirit saying that she needed healing. After she finished serving us, I plucked up the courage to ask her if she had any pain in her body. She looked surprise at the question, but then continued to answer yes, she has a sore right foot - which, funnily enough, was the foot that was nearest to Rob (in respect to our seating).

After getting her permission to pray for her foot, I turned to Rob and said, "Go for it, Rob. Pray for her!". Rob then bent down to reach her ankle, and prayed a quick 5-second prayer thanking Jesus for the healing that He has brought her.

Testing the Healing

I asked for her to walk, to test the healing. She walked a few paces back and forth by our table, then burst into smiles saying,

"How did you do it?"

I asked if the pain was gone, and she confirmed it with a resounding yes! We told her that it wasn't us who healed her, but that it was Jesus. She looked at us and said,

"I feel tingling on my arm"

I replied saying,

"That's the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Jesus".

She reached over, and held both of our hands, and thanked us. We encouraged her to seek Jesus for her life as He is real, and He loves her.

Rob went home feeling ecstatic. God is so faithful in building up our faith when we take that first step of obeying the command He gave us in the Great Commission.

Mark 16:15-20

The Great Commission

15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. 20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

Glory be to God!
