A Demonic Harassment

There was an eight-year-old girl who often attended my Bible studies. One evening after studying the Bible, she conveyed to me that she had been hearing voices in her head. Every time she prayed, the voices would tell her,

"Stop it, you don't want to do that!".

Her mind would then go blank; unable to remember what she wanted to pray for.

Similarly, whenever she sang a Christian song, the voices would tell her,

"Stop it, you don't want to sing that, sing other songs instead!".

This happened continuously for about a month before she finally told her mother. Her mother didn't believe her; thinking she was making it all up. Hence why she had come to me for help.

Warfare

Looking at the situation that evening, I knew that she was tormented by demons. Demons hate any prayers and praises that glorify God. I had to do something. So, I asked the young girl to go with me to one of the rooms in the house. There, alone with her, I spoke to the demons that were tormenting her. I asked who they were, what their names were, and why were they tormenting her? There was silence. Then after a few minutes the girl said to me,

"They're not saying anything, Elma. They don't want to answer your questions".

So, I started to speak to them again - this time I told them to leave her alone because she belongs to God; God loves her. Then suddenly she said to me,

"Elma, they are laughing at you!".

At this point, the hairs behind my neck began to stand up, and I thought to myself,

"Oh man, this is creepy! What am I doing in a room of demons on my own?! I must be crazy doing this!".

I felt like running out of the room because their laughter confirmed to me that they have heard me, that this confrontation was now for real, and they were responding.

Much as I wanted to run, I stood my ground, I forbid my legs to run away. My heart was beating so fast. What have I let myself into? I decided to stay calm and remember that I have God and Jesus on my side. I channelled my fear into anger. How dare they laughed at me?! Wait until I get the Name of Jesus on them! So in Jesus name, I told them to leave her forever. I told them they have no right to her. She is God's child. She has been paid for by the blood of Jesus. I repeated the Name of Jesus over and over as my anger at them began to heighten. Then, after a few minutes, the girl looked at me and said,

"Elma, they stopped laughing now and they're gone!".

I felt a relief come over me, not just for her, but for me too. I have just witnessed the power of the Name of Jesus. I hugged her, and we prayed together there and then to thank Jesus and God for delivering her from this torment.

Lasting Victory

Since then whenever I see her, I ask her if she is OK, and to this day - almost one year later, those voices have not returned to torment her. Praise be to God!

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; .......

Ephesians 6: 10 - 17

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
